Sacred Ritual for the Full Moon in Scorpio

Posted by Sharron Basanti on

The energy of the Scorpio Full Moon on Friday, May 5th, 2023 at 10:33 am (PDT) invites you to magnify the senses. Thus, the ritual involves embracing your sensuality, which has nothing to do with sex and everything to do with ‘gratifying your senses.’  When you hold space for your senses to become more keen, your 6th sense becoming heightened!

Back in 2018, I decided to quit refined sugar (processed white sugar), but not natural sugar. I knew that I needed to create a healthier alternative if I was going to successfully quit refined sugar. So, I’ve included healthier forms of sugar into my lifestyle that come straight from the Earth like honey, agave nectar, maple syrup, etc. And, of course in moderation! Since then I have fallen off the wagon and then got back on a couple of times, but the key is to keep returning. Creating healthy habits takes time, as unhealthy patterns have to be broken first.

I am a chocoholic. I love how the flavanols in chocolate help to enhance my mood and also combat depression. I got inspired and made chocolate balls with walnuts, cashews, coconut, raisins, unsweetened chocolate, and agave nectar that hit my chocoholic sweet spot! After I made my first batch, I knew that the ritual for the Scorpio Full Moon was going to be involve chocolate magick. Warning: this ritual gratifies ALL the sense!

You can do your ritual a day before, on the day, or a day after the Full Moon, as the energy is still potent. You are welcome to use my ritual or adopt parts of it to create a personalized one, especially the ingredients for the recipe. Please know that you don’t need to do a ritual for each Full Moon, only connect to the ones that you feel drawn to. Your ritual doesn’t need to be complicated. Can be simple as lighting a candle.

As with any ritual, create sacred space for yourself to connect with your Higher-SELF. Depending on your Full Moon traditions, you may want to light a candle; call in the elements, directions + guides; make a circle; ring a bell, etc. . . I personally don’t adhere to any rules or guidelines of how to create sacred space. I follow what rises up for me in my heart space, as the energy of each Full Moon is unique, and I want my ritual to reflect where I am vibrationally.

The Ritual

The energy of the Scorpio Full Moon is highly transformative and you may feel drawn to reinventing an aspect of your life. You may witness suppressed feelings surfacing to unravel hidden insights that lead to deep healing. Use the medicine of Scorpio to bring closure to past wounds that have reopened.

Scorpio is astrologically influenced by the element of water, which purifies the spirit by washing away stagnant energy that needs to be released. Before you start the ritual, I highly recommend connecting with the element of water by taking a bath or shower to cleanse your mind, heart, and soul, as the Scorpio Full Moon can be extremely intense and highly emotional.

For the ritual you will need to explore your pantry and perhaps dash out to your local grocers for any ingredients listed below that you are missing. You can easily substitute walnuts and cashews for other types of nuts like pistachios, brazil nuts, pecans, peanuts, etc. . . And, if you are allergic to or don’t like the taste of a specific ingredient then don’t be shy to substitute in ones that agree with you, as that is part of magickal alchemy!

The Full Moon is commonly associated with release rituals, but it is also an ideal time for acknowledging and harvesting the previous New Moon's intentions that have come to fruition. As you are crushing, mixing, and bringing your ingredients together, focus on manifestations that have germinated from the intentions you set during the last New Moon. And, don't forget to connect with the Ancestors!

The Recipe

  • ½ cup cranberries or raisins
  • ½ cup walnuts
  • ½ cup unsalted cashews
  • 1 cup shredded coconut
  • ½ cup agave nectar, honey, or maple syrup
  • ½ cup cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 8  squares of unsweetened chocolate (each square is .25 ounces)

In a mortar, crush your walnuts and cashews to the fineness that you prefer or use a food processor. I prefer crushing my ingredients by hands, as that adds my energy. Listen to the sound, notice the colour, feel the texture, be aware of the aroma, and don't be afraid to taste the ingredients. The ritual's purpose is to magnify all your senses: sight, touch, smell, taste and sound. As you allow your senses to become more keen, you'll notice your 6th sense becoming heightened.

Move the crushed nuts into a microwave safe bowl. Add the unsweetened chocolate squares to the bowl of crushed nuts and melt in the microwave. If you prefer you can melt your chocolate using the double boiler method.

Stir in the shredded coconut, cranberries or raisins, and agave nectar (or whatever you preferred to use) to the chocolate and nut mixture. Finally, mix in the vanilla extract and cocoa powder.

Add a spoonful of the mixture to your hands and roll into 1 inch balls. If the mixture doesn’t come together, you may need to add more agave nectar or maybe more cocoa powder to stiffen up. Use your intuition and tap into your alchemist heart to find your solution.

The mixture will make approximately 18, 1 inch balls. Afterwards, roll the balls in cocoa powder to protect them from sticking. I recommend storing the chocolate balls in the refrigerator. Don't be shy to lick the chocolate that is stuck to your fingers or the bowl. Remember, you want to use all your senses!

  • Sharron,
Thank you for this. I am so intrigued by rituals because I hear so much about rituals and I don’t do any or knew how to do any, so this was very helpful and informative. I am really thankful. Going to print it out and do it at another time and stay tuned to any others you post.
    Big virtual hug,
